Beam deconvolution in noisy CMB maps

چکیده
The subject of this paper is beam deconvolution in small angular scale CMB experiments. The beam effect is reversed using the Jacobi iterative method, which was designed to solved systems of algebraic linear equations. The beam is a non circular one which moves according to the observational strategy. A certain realistic level of Gaussian instrumental noise is assumed. The method applies to small scale CMB experiments in general (cases A and B), but we have put particular attention on P mission at 100 GHz (cases C and D). In cases B and D, where noise is present, deconvolution allows to correct the main beam distortion effect and recover the initial angular power spectrum up to the end of the fifth acoustic peak. An encouraging result whose importance is analyzed in detail. More work about deconvolution in the presence of other systematics is in progress. This paper is related to the P LFI activities.

Deconvolving the Beam in Small Angular Scale Cmb Experiments
This paper is concerned with experiments which measure CMB anisotropies on small angular scales. A certain coverage, a beam structure and a level of uncorrelated noise define each experiment. We focus our atention on the reversion of the beam average. In each experiment, we look for the best pixelization for reversion, namely, for the pixelization that –after reversion– leads to good maps conta...
متن کاملMaximum-entropy image reconstruction using wavelets
Wavelet functions allow the sparse and efficient representation of a signal at different scales. Recently the application of wavelets to the denoising of maps of cosmic microwave background (CMB) fluctuations has been proposed. The maximum-entropy method (MEM) is also often used for enhancing astronomical images and has been applied to CMB data. In this paper, we give a systematic discussion of...
متن کاملTowards robust deconvolution of low-dose perfusion CT: Sparse perfusion deconvolution using online dictionary learning
Computed tomography perfusion (CTP) is an important functional imaging modality in the evaluation of cerebrovascular diseases, particularly in acute stroke and vasospasm. However, the post-processed parametric maps of blood flow tend to be noisy, especially in low-dose CTP, due to the noisy contrast enhancement profile and the oscillatory nature of the results generated by the current computati...

This paper characterizes the effective beams, the effective beam window functions and the associated errors for the Planck High Frequency Instrument (HFI) detectors. The effective beam is the angular response including the effect of the optics, detectors, data processing and the scan strategy. The window function is the representation of this beam in the harmonic domain that is required to reco...
متن کاملAsymfast, a method for convolving maps with asymmetric beams
We describe a fast and accurate method to perform the convolution of a sky map with any asymmetric beam along any given complex scanning strategy. Although developped within the framework of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) observations, it can be used for any sky map that should be convolved with a complex beam shape. For a Planck-HFI instrument-like configuration, Asymfast is at least 50 tim...
